NEW 2026!
A First, In Honor of Fifty Years
This year, Maryland Renaissance Festival turns 50 — and Rapunzel’s marks 25 years of hair, magic, and community within it. In celebration of both, the Bramble is proud to introduce something new to our world: The Look Book, a collection of one-on-one, reservation-only braiding experiences with our master braiders.
For up to an hour, you’ll sit with a true artist of the craft — not in the flow of the festival day, but in a space made just for you — to bring one of ten signature braids to life, or work with your braider to create something entirely your own. Every Look Book braid is finished with brand new decorations, created exclusively for this collection and found nowhere else at the Faire. Come and be dazzled with your one-of-a-kind creation.
Born in the year of two milestones, the Look Book is here to stay.
Half a century of the Faire. A quarter century of Rapunzel’s. A new tradition, starting now.
What to expect?
Please read before booking — this page confirms what to expect once your reservation is scheduled.
You will receive an email before your reservation weekend, confirming your appointment time and which Rapunzel’s booth to report to on the day of the Faire.
A $60 deposit is required to reserve your Look Book appointment. This deposit is refundable up until 5pm on the Thursday before your appointment weekend. After that time, the deposit is non-refundable. Send us an email to request your deposit back at info@thehairbraiders.com
Your deposit will be applied toward the total cost of your braid. The remaining balance is due the day of your appointment and must be paid in cash. Please also plan to bring cash for gratuity for your braider — tips are always appreciated and never included in the braid price.
Please arrive at your booth within 10 minutes of your scheduled appointment time. Appointments are booked back-to-back to give every patron their full hour, so late arrivals may not be able to be accommodated.
If you do not arrive within 10 minutes of your appointment time, your appointment will be considered a no-show and your deposit will be forfeited.

We have two locations at MDRF. Our Meadow Booth is located nearer the entrance, center field, near our Fairy Hair Booth and the Glass Art Booth. This is all before you see food.
Our Main Booth is near the Jousting Horses. Facing the jousting stadium we’re on your right side. Search for Rapunzel’s long hair and listen for heavy laughter.
The Faire — and your appointment — runs rain or shine. We look forward to seeing you regardless of weather, so please dress accordingly.
Ten signature braids, each finished with decorations created exclusively for the Look Book. Braids start at $125.
NEW 2026!
A First-Year Bonus, Just for You
This is the very first year the Bramble has ever offered Look Book reservations — and as one of our first patrons to experience it, you get something extra. Select Look Book clients will be featured on our Instagram as “This Week’s Look Book,” showcasing your braid as inspiration for patrons booking in the weeks ahead.
It’s our way of saying thank you for being part of the Look Book from the very beginning — a first for the Bramble, worn first by you.
Every Look Book braid is finished with brand new decorations — designed exclusively for this collection and not available anywhere else at the Faire. Come and be dazzled with your one-of-a-kind creation.
If you have special hair decorations you’d like added to your braid — flowers, beads, ribbons, or other accents — please bring them with you to your appointment.
By booking a Look Book appointment, you agree that a photo of the back of your finished braid may be featured on the Bramble’s Social Media as part of our “Styled By” series, showcasing our appointments as inspiration for future patrons. If you’d prefer not to be featured, simply let your master braider know before your appointment begins and your braid will not be photographed.

Why Now?
In 2001, Jules Smith brought me into this Faire on one condition: train locals. I said yes without knowing exactly how — and that single decision became the foundation of everything the Bramble is today. What started with traveling circuit braiders grew into a family of local artists, some who’ve braided for us for decades, some just starting out, all bound by the same craft and the same community. Annapolis became home because of this Faire.
Twenty-five years later, we’ve trained hundreds of hands and thousands of braids. This year, as MDRF celebrates fifty years and Rapunzel’s marks twenty-five within it, it felt like the right moment to offer something we’ve never done before — a chance to slow down, sit one-on-one with the braiders who carry that legacy forward, and create something made just for you. The Look Book isn’t a departure from what we’ve built. It’s what all those years were leading to.
